Who Can Benefit from a Functional Nutrition Consultation?

Today modern medicine involves the use of drugs and surgeries to help and cure the disease or solve the problem of the patient; while functional medicine views the body as an interconnected system where all parts influence each other, and seeks to identify and address the root causes of illness or dysfunction.

Functional nutrition integrates the principles of functional medicine and everyone can benefit from it.

 I accompany people:

  •  Seeking Preventative Health:

    • Even if you feel generally healthy, a functional nutrition consultation can help you understand if you are really in a good health or  there is already inflammation in your body and troubles just hide inside; what else can be done to stay healthy, how to optimize your nutrition, improve energy levels, and reduce the risk of future health issues. For instance, do you have yearly preventive check-ups (e.g. blood tests) to correct the deficiencies and detect potential health risks early? I will advice you what tests need to be done at your age, and when having the results I will advice you (knowing that laboratory norms and health norms are sometimes very different).

  •  With Chronic Conditions:

    • Those dealing with chronic illnesses like diabetes, autoimmune disorders, rheumatisms  or heart disease can benefit from a functional approach to identify and address underlying causes. Corrections will allow to have a better life quality.

  •  Experiencing Digestive Issues:

    • If you struggle with bloating, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, or other digestive problems, I  can help pinpoint triggers and support gut health through targeted nutritional changes.

  • With recurrent infections:

    • Recurrent infections can lead to a range of complications and health issues, depending on the type of infections, their frequency, and the underlying causes. Therefore, it is very important to address the underlying cause. Examples of recurrent infections are recurring sinusitis, bronchitis, otitis, strep throat, herpes, vaginal infections, etc. Often children have recurrent infections that are attributed to their young age; however, finding the root causes and helping their immune system become stronger, are of utmost importance to avoid further health issues later.

  • With skin issues:

    • Skin issues often reflect underlying health conditions, lifestyle factors, or environmental influences. Acne, eczema, psoriasis, warts, fungal infections are a few to name.

  • Having  weight problems

    • If your objective is to lose or gain weight, we are going to concentrate on identifying and addressing the root causes of weight gain or difficulty losing weight. Rather than just counting calories, we will consider the body as a whole, taking into account factors like metabolism, hormone balance, gut health, inflammation, and lifestyle.

  • With allergies and food intolerances:

    • If you have already identified (if not, I will advice you how to do it) allergies/food intolerances, we can work together to ensure that you get all necessary nutrients and pleasure eating while avoiding problematic foods. Moreover, allergies and food intolerances are the consequences of an increased intestinal permeability, so we will take care of your overall health as well.

  • Before and during pregnancy/breastfeeding

    • Pregnancy. Nutrition is of paramount importance for pregnant women because it directly affects both the mother's health and the development of the baby.

    • Breastfeeding. Nutrition affects the quality of the breast milk provided to the baby as well as mother’s physical and mental health during this special period of life.

  • Before and during menopause/andropause

    • Menopause. Nutrition is particularly important for women during menopause because this life stage brings about significant hormonal changes that can affect overall health. Proper nutrition can help manage symptoms, reduce the risk of chronic diseases (e.g. osteoporosis), and support overall well-being.

    • Andropause. Nutrition is crucial for men experiencing andropause (also known as male menopause), a phase characterized by a gradual decline in testosterone levels. This hormonal change can affect physical, emotional, and mental health, making proper nutrition essential for managing symptoms and maintaining overall well-being.

  • Who suffer psychological overload

    • Burn-out

    • Depression

    • Emotional shock

  • With Unexplained Symptoms:

    • If you have symptoms that haven’t been resolved through conventional medicine, such as chronic fatigue,  troubles sleeping, memory issues, lack of concentration, migraines, or skin issues, functional nutrition may offer new insights and solutions.
